At Azteca Economic Development, we are proud members of the Laredo VITA Program (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance), offering free tax preparation services to qualifying individuals and families in our community. Through this initiative, we ensure that taxpayers receive accurate and secure assistance in filing their tax returns, maximizing refunds, and claiming all eligible tax credits.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program is a nationwide initiative supported by the IRS, designed to assist low- and moderate-income taxpayers with free and reliable tax preparation services. The program is available at 15 locations throughout Laredo, providing accessible support to individuals who meet annual income requirements.
At Azteca Economic Development, we operate the only VITA site in Laredo that remains open year-round, ensuring that residents always have access to expert tax assistance when they need it.
Since its establishment, the Laredo VITA Program has significantly contributed to the financial well-being of thousands of families in the region.
In 2016 alone:
Over 5,600 tax returns were prepared
Nearly $9 million in tax refunds were issued
$4 million in Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC) were secured for eligible individuals
